Jo’s abstract work is led by colour, built through multiple layers of paint and textured surfaces. Circuit contains a degree of subliminal content, with meaning often emerging only after the painting is complete.
Jo and her husband have recently built an ecological home in Wivenhoe. It is clad in striking vertical black timber, inspired by the area’s iconic shipbuilding sheds. Jo reflects:“I’ve always been drawn to arched shapes as portals to new spaces and adventures. This is certainly one.”
Jo Angell is a contemporary British artist based in Essex. Her work explores the expressive impact of colour through paintings, prints and other mediums.
