"The Farm Building collages are loosely based on farm buildings and shapes found in our farm yard. I use old clothing and scraps of fabric as my paint - the colours I use are found all over the farm yard, from brightly coloured farm machinery, painted and repainted with chips of old colour showing through, to a stack of painted wooden pallets in vibrant blues, reds and yellows. The striped fabric I use, often cut from old shirts, are a nod to the patchwork of corrugated iron that covers the semi circular Nissan huts - this shape often crops up in my work."
Lucie Summers is a textile artist based on a farm near Newmarket, where the rhythms of rural life and surrounding landscape shape her work. Working intuitively with waste textiles and reclaimed fabrics, she creates vibrant fabric collages loosely inspired by farm buildings and the experience of living on the land.
